Selected projects intended to increase stores of clean drinking water.
The Department of the Interior (DOI) has announced that 36 drought resiliency projects will receive $84.7 million through funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The money will be used by communities in the western states to implement innovative ways to increase stores of drinkable water, including rain collection and purification, underground water storage, and ion exchange treatments to reuse existing water supplies.
“As climate change exacerbates drought impacts throughout the Western United States, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is advancing our work to invest in innovative, locally-led water infrastructure projects and provide clean, reliable water to families and communities across the country,” said Assistant Secretary for Water and Science Tanya Trujillo.
